Our story
But the web-development work goes back to 2009 — Stephen has been building sites and custom applications for over 15 years. The studio is what those 15 years grew into.
2009 · Pre-studio
Started building web solutions for small businesses and enterprise clients — custom applications that solved real business problems, not just brochure sites.
2012 · Pre-studio
Expanded into responsive design and mobile optimization as smartphones changed how everyone uses the web. Every project after this shipped working perfectly on every device.
2015 · Pre-studio
Started connecting websites to the systems businesses actually run on — CRMs, ticketing, community platforms. The pattern of "custom build, real workflow" gets locked in.
2018 · Pre-studio
Added AWS, Azure, and Cloudways to the toolkit — moving clients off shared hosting and onto infrastructure that scales with their business.
2020 · Studio founded
Stephen formalizes the practice as Sippican Digital during the pandemic — helping local South Coast businesses pivot to e-commerce, online booking, and virtual platforms when they needed it most.

I've been building websites since 2009 — long enough to have seen plenty of small businesses burned by bloated agencies or stuck with DIY platforms that promised simple and delivered chaos. Sippican Digital is what I built to be the alternative.
We're a small studio based on the South Coast of Massachusetts — small on purpose. When you hire us, you work directly with the person doing the work. No project managers, no ticket queues, no hand-offs. The website ships on time, and you can call us when you need us.
